LM has one of the country’s most professional antitrust practices, in both the criminal and civil aspects of Antitrust and Competition Law. The firm provides ongoing counsel on the enforcement of the Antitrust Law as it relates to monopolies, restraints of trade and M&A, representing clients from a wide variety of industries, including food manufacturing, banking, publishing, retail chains, energy, tourism and telecommunications. The firm is also highly experienced in working with the Antitrust Authority over general regulatory matters. The firm’s antitrust department is headed by Adv. Joseph Levy, one of Israel’s foremost experts in antitrust and competition law.

LM’s excellence in this field, as well as Adv. Joseph Levy’s personal expertise, were recognized globally by Chambers Global and Legal500 and domestically by both D&B and BDI in their practice areas guides for the year 2012, as well as in past publications.

In addition, the Firm’s antitrust team includes the honorable Justice Emeritus Jonathan Adiel, who serves as a consultant to the Firm in the fields of antitrust and tenders law. The honorable Justice Adiel has served until 2005 as an acting Justice of the Israeli Supreme Court and has served for fifteen years as a Justice in the Jerusalem District Court. During this period, Justice Adiel served for five years as the President of the Antitrust Tribunal. While serving as the President of the Tribunal, Justice Adiel wrote the ‘Magna Carta’ of Israeli antitrust law, and his many precedent-setting rulings are the leading and binding law in the field of antitrust to this day.

Over the past 13 years, LM has been involved in many of the antitrust criminal cases prosecuted by the Antitrust Authority including, for example, the alleged pipe connectors marketing cartel, the alleged gas marketing cartel, the alleged envelopes marketing cartel, as well as the appeal in the Supreme Court concerning the alleged frozen vegetables marketing cartel. In civil proceedings, LM also has extensive experience in representing many of Israel’s leading companies before the Antitrust Tribunal, such as Electra Consumer Products, Bezeq, Visa Europe and Tnuva.

LM’s Antitrust practice also involves counseling on competition and the regulatory aspects of mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures. In this area, LM leverages its in-depth knowledge of the regulatory world, gained through the unique experience acquired by handling specific issues on behalf of the firm’s corporate and government clients. LM has counseled and represented its clients before the Antitrust Authority in some of the country’s largest and most important mergers in a diverse range of industries.

LM provides corporate clients and professional associations with ongoing advice concerning any and all business activities, whether in Israel or abroad, that may have potential antitrust and competition implications. This includes the provision of legal opinions regarding business transactions and agreements, and representation before the Antitrust Authority and Antitrust Tribunal if required.
