Aviel jointly heads the Litigation Department at at the firm & Co.
He began his career at our office as an intern in the Litigation Department and has handled all aspects of litigation, including commercial litigation, administrative litigation, and class actions suits. As part of his work, Aviel has represented a wide range of clients in the fields of industry, commerce, retail, transportation, infrastructure, communications, real estate, and high-tech.
Over the years, Aviel has been involved in complex and varied legal proceedings in courts and quasi-judicial bodies. He has acquired extensive experience in hundreds of appearances before various courts. Namely, he has appeared before various District Courts and the Supreme Court regarding complex legal claims, administrative petitions, petitions to the High Court of Justice, class action suits, business arbitration, civil appeals, mediation proceedings, and more.
Aviel has represented large public entities such as General Electric, Alstom, LG, Bombardier, Partner Group, the Elco Electra Group, Superbus, the Israel Airports Authority, and Netivei Israel.
Representative Matters: Representing General Electric in a claim of 4 billion NIS filed by the Israel Electric Corporation, relating to an alleged global cartel in the gas insulated switchgear field, as well as a class action suit amounting to 2.5 billion NIS that was filed on the same grounds; Representing Bezeq International in a class action suit amounting to 2 billion NIS, in connection with allegations of misleading customers regarding the dialing of international telephone calls; Representing Partner Communications in a class action suit worth 13 billion, in connection with claims regarding cartel companies in the field of international calls; Representing Netivei Israel in a claim of 147 million NIS, submitted by a contractor in a national infrastructure project; Representing the Israel Airports Authority in claims of the aggregate sum of hundreds of millions of shekels regarding the Ben Gurion Airport 2000 project; Representing HP Israel in an administrative petition in the tender relating to the Biometrics ID project (estimated at 250 million NIS), as well as a 50 million NIS claim filed by the second bidder in the same tender.
Aviel is the author of “Class Action Suits” (together with Dr. Hagai Vinitzky), published in 2017. The book includes a comprehensive review of issues related to class action suits, both in the Israel and international contexts. To date, the book has been cited in numerous judgments and decisions, including important precedents of the Israeli Supreme Court in the field of class action suits.
